A network-level screening tool designed for the initial evaluation of pavement structural condition. It serves as a key input for prioritizing maintenance needs and supporting preventive road maintenance programs. MSD measures pavement structural integrity from a moving vehicle, enabling surveys to be conducted at normal traffic speeds without requiring road closures. Compared to conventional methods Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), the MSD offers significantly faster data collection, higher-resolution outputs, GPS integration, and a user-friendly database presented in GIS map format for an accurate overview of the pavement structural condition across the entire road network. This is essential for effective planning, optimization of resources allocation, and data-driven prioritization of maintenance and rehabilitation efforts. By utilizing the overall scanning data from the MSD, our engineers were able to optimize FWD operations, targeting only critical areas.
