Piloting Upcycling Solution To Tackle Label Packaging Waste in Malaysia

Alam Sekitar dan Teknologi Hijau Materials In Works

Pengenalan

Materials In Works (MIW) was established to address the critical issue of industrial waste, particularly hard-to-recycle materials such as label liners and laminates, which often end up in landfills causing environmental degradation and resource inefficiency. The purpose of MIW’s solution is to promote a circular economy by transforming industrial waste into valuable resources, reducing dependency on virgin materials, and lowering the carbon footprint of industries.

MIW’s solution features innovative processes and technologies, including the production of Recovered Cellulose Pulp (RCP), which is upcycled from label liners and serves as a high-quality raw material for paper and packaging production. Non-recyclable laminates and label matrix wastes are converted into Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF), an alternative fuel source that reduces reliance on fossil fuels. With proprietary technology and a comprehensive end-to-end waste management system, MIW ensures efficient segregation, processing, and repurposing of industrial waste.

The solution offers numerous benefits, including significant environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to climate action. It provides cost-efficient alternatives to traditional raw materials for industries, supports regulatory compliance, and creates economic value through innovative upcycling practices. MIW’s efforts empower businesses to achieve their sustainability goals while reducing waste management costs.

The target audience for MIW’s solution includes industries with significant waste generation, such as consumer goods, packaging, food and beverage, and manufacturing sectors. MIW’s innovative approach allows businesses in these sectors to adopt sustainable practices, comply with environmental regulations, and contribute to a greener future.
