Bhd.'s Elios 3 Big Diameter Pipe Inspection with LiDAR provides a safer, faster, and data-driven alternative to conventional manual inspection of large-diameter pipelines, culverts, box drains, and tunnel segments. The solution utilises the Flyability Elios 3 indoor drone equipped with an Ouster OS0 LiDAR sensor, 4K camera, and thermal camera to remotely capture detailed visual and spatial data from inside pipes where human entry is hazardous, difficult, or impossible.
The Elios 3 can operate in GPS-denied environments and pipes ranging from 60 cm to over 3 metres in diameter. Its collision-tolerant cage design and FlyAware™ SLAM engine enable stable flight in dark, dusty, and complex pipe geometries. The LiDAR payload generates real-time 3D point clouds with centimeter-accurate spatial data, allowing inspectors to build digital twins of the pipe interior, measure deformations, calculate volumes, and precisely localize defects.
Captured data — including 4K video, thermal imagery, and 3D point clouds — is reviewed by AL Pine's technical team to identify cracks, corrosion, infiltration, blockages, joint failures, and structural deformations. Inspection findings are compiled into professional reports with georeferenced 3D models, photographic evidence, and actionable maintenance recommendations.
