The MySTI team conducted a site visit to Biogenes Technologies, a local company specialising in the development and production of rapid diagnostic kits, innovated by local talent and designed for use by both professionals and the general public. Biogenes Technologies began the session by presenting their business model, which focuses on producing locally relevant diagnostic kits capable of detecting hormones, common viruses, and drugs prevalent in Malaysia using urine, blood, saliva, and serum samples.
The session continued with a guided tour of their facilities, beginning with an overview of the research and development process from simulation and concept validation to the development of the rapid diagnostic kits. This was followed by a walkthrough of their pilot-scale production facilities, where the kits are prepared for mass production prior to undergoing quality control (QC) procedures .
The visit concluded with a discussion between Biogenes Technologies and the MySTI team on potential pathways to channel these diagnostic kits to local agencies and hospitals, facilitated through the MySTI initiative.
