PUTRAJAYA – The MySTI Secretariat from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) conducted a MySTI Policy Briefing session with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) on 6th of April 2026 to strengthen the local industry empowerment agenda. As a pioneer ministry, KPDN remains the benchmark for integrating local Research and Development (R&D) products into the government procurement ecosystem. The session aimed to ensure procurement officers, particularly new members, gain a clear understanding of MySTI policies to effectively disseminate the information across all departments and agencies under the ministry.
The briefing focused on the strategic alignment of the 2026 Annual Procurement Planning (PPT) and procurement procedures that support domestic technology growth. Beyond technical aspects, emphasis was placed on the role of new team members as information envoys to ensure the national technological sovereignty agenda is embraced at every organizational level. Through a proper understanding of mapping mechanisms, homegrown innovations can now be systematically prioritized in ministry tender planning, subsequently reducing reliance on foreign technology.
A key highlight of the session was the discussion on the availability of new innovations for enforcement personnel. MySTI emphasized that the range of registered products is extensive and highly relevant to various jurisdictions, including the security and law enforcement sectors. This proactive approach not only celebrates local creativity but also serves as a catalyst for national R&D commercialization in line with the Malaysia Madani aspirations to build a competitive, knowledge-based economy.
