MELAKA – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), in strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF), recently organized the "Specification Preparation Course for Quotation and Tender Modules" at Ibis Hotel, Melaka. This initiative aims to equip procurement officers with the necessary technical skills to effectively and transparently integrate local Research and Development (R&D) products into the ministry's procurement system.
The course featured comprehensive briefing sessions from MOSTI on the "Implementation of MySTI in Government Procurement," highlighting the importance of prioritizing recognized local innovative products. Additionally, experts from MOF (CDC) provided in-depth briefings on the roles of the Quotation and Tender Committees, as well as the procedures for preparing accurate technical specifications and scoring matrices. This synergy between MOSTI and MOF ensures that every procurement process not only adheres to national financial governance but also serves as a catalyst for technology transfer and the empowerment of the local STI industry.
The impact of this cross-ministerial collaboration is expected to accelerate the commercialization of Malaysian innovative products within the public sector, particularly in supporting the national food security agenda. MySTI continues to play a pivotal role as a key facilitator in bridging local innovative talents with the government market, thereby reducing reliance on foreign technology. This collaboration represents a proactive step towards building a sustainable and competitive STI ecosystem, aligned with the goal of strengthening the national economy through high-impact innovation.
